  STROMBOLI - LIPARI - VULCANO

7.10 a.m.   Embarkation onto the 350-berth, air-conditioned motor ship. 7.45 a.m.   Departure from the port of TROPEA/CAPE VATICAN (Grotticelle beach) for STROMBOLI, a volcano composed of andesitic and basaltic lava topped by two summits, the highest of which is called the Vancora crest, between which, 750 metres from the sea, is a trench with perpetually active eruptive dents, discharging lapilli and incandescent material from the craters, which fall onto a wall called the "Sciara di Fuoco".
11 a.m.   Departure from Stromboli.A journey along the coast of PANAREA, the smallest of the Aeolian Islands, famous for its prehistoric village on the Milazzo promontory dating back to the Bronze Age (XIV - XIII century BC) composed of oval-shaped huts and a rectangular shaped hut protected by fencing with a stone millstone and mortar. The next stop is LIPARI, the most important and commercial town of the Aeolian Islands. A generally high coastline with cliffs containing stacks and caves. Interesting quarry of pumice taken from the layers of red rock, and a magnificent museum divided into sections with finds from the IV and III millennium BC, others from the Bronze Age 2000-1400 BC, ceramics dating back to 1440-1250 BC, etc... Free time for visiting the city, doing some shopping and venturing through the numerous lanes.
3 p.m.    Departure for VULCANO, known as THERMES, Terasia Hiera, Vulcano Island or Efisto in ancient times. According to legend, this was home to Aeolus, the God of Winds. Fumarolic activity can be seen in the east bay, where the underwater thermal springs (hot water) and the natural mud (sulphureous) possess exceptional therapeutic properties for treating rheumatism, arthropathy and circulation problems.
5 p.m.   Departure for Tropea. During the return journey, passengers can admire the imposing landscape of Cape Vatican, estimated time of arrival 7.30 p.m.

Villa S.Giovanni can be reached by travelling along the wonderful Calabrian Riviera. The journey begins by crossing the Strait of Messina by ferry and continues on the panoramic motorway to Taormina, arriving at 10.30 a.m. Located in a beautiful position, set between the rocks and the sea, it is a very characteristic town with narrow roads, ancient buildings and many steps that lend it a medieval appearance. Not to be missed is the wonderful Greek Theatre dating back to the III-century B.C. and almost completely rebuilt in Roman times. Lunch in a restaurant (optional). Departure at 3.30 p.m. for the return journey with a brief stop at Messina to visit the XII-century Norman cathedral and the clock tower.

 Arrival at Reggio Calabria at 10 a.m. and a visit to the National Museum that houses the famous Riace bronzes. Brief tour of the city with a walk along the "most beautiful sea-front in Italy". Departure at 12.30 p.m. for Scilla, where the artful call of the sirens can still be heard. The millenary Ruffo Castle can be seen on the legendary cliff high up above the sea dividing the two bays. Free time to visit the town, bathe or have lunch in a local restaurant (optional). 3 p.m. - the excursion continues to Nicotera, an ancient town entrenched on a rocky ridge. Tour of the old town full of Patrician marine antiques and wonderful palazzos, a Norman Castle and a Cathedral of medieval origins. Departure at 5.30 p.m. for the return journey.

Centro peschereccio e balneare situato a picco sul mare in pittoresca posizione lungo la costa del golfo di S. Eufemia.
Sorta nell'alto medioevo secondo alcune fonti sul sito dell'anticaNapitum, con il Castello di Gioacchino Murat, è rinomata per i gelatiartigianali (il più rinomato il TARTUFO)
La cittadina si presenta pulita e fragrante di profumo di mare.
Dalla piazzetta principale è possibile notare il famoso castello,costruito dagli Aragonesi, divenne celebre perché vi fu tenutoprigioniero e poi fucilato Gioacchino Murat.
All'interno dell'edificio vi sono alcune ricostruzioni storiche e testimonianze di quei tragici avvenimenti.
Fu eretto nel 1492 da Ferdinando I di Aragona.
È una costruzione quadrangolare da un lato a picco sul mare edall'altro circondata da un profondo fossato. Si accede all'internotramite un ponte levatoio costruito in mezzo a due torrioni, che èstato sostituito da un ponte tradizionale in pietra.
Visitaremo la Chiesetta di Piedigrotta
Si tratta di un edificio scavato nel tufo fatta costruire in circostanze particolari:
il comandante di una nave che si fregiava di un quadro della S.Vergine, durante una tempesta fece voto che se si fossero salvatiavrebbe fatto costruire una chiesa. E così fu.
La Chiesetta sorge nel punto esatto del naufragio e sull'Altare Maggiore si trova il quadro.
I discendenti del capitano continuarono l'opera di costruzione.
Le ultime realizzazioni scavate nel tufo rappresentano i volti di "Papa Giovanni" e di "Jhon Kennedy".

Due perle affacciate sul Tirreno  
Due dei più preziosi gioielli della costa tirrenica, saranno la metadella nostra escursione:la nostra prima tappa sarà il bellissimo centrostorico di Tropea con i suoi palazzi medioevali, il Duomo Normanno edil Belvedere, che si affaccia sulla rupe che ospita la Chiesetta diSanta Maria dell'Isola, direttamente a picco sulle limpide acque chegli scogli impreziosiscono di colori e che il sole fa brillare diriflessi. Uno scenario che merita di essere immortalato nella nostramemoria! La guida ci lascerà del tempo per continuare ad esplorare dasoli gli angoli più curiosi della cittadina. Tra un susseguirsi discenari da cartolina, giungeremo a Capo Vaticano per una breve sosta alFaro da dove è possibile ammirare uno dei panorami più suggestivi della"Praia di Fuoco" e per visitare un'azienda agricola dove viene prodottala famosa cipolla rossa di Tropea. Qui ci verrà offerta una deliziosadegustazione dei prodotti locali.
